'Into Randomness' by Me Succeeds

The promsising Hamburg-based electro pop duo released it's 4th album on Ki Records.

They say coincidence is a word with no meaning, because nothing happens without a reason. Within this spectre of oddity and positivity, randomness or alleged fortune, Mona Steinwidder and Lorin Strohm aka Me Succeeds place their new album 'Into Randomness'.

'Into Randomness' is out on Ki Records, including a remix album featuring contributions by a who is who of Hamburg's electronic music scene that came out in December.

Mona also tours around Europe from April as a solo artist under the moniker Mohna.

release: Long Distance Operators

Long Distance Operators (LDO) is a collaboration between the Australian musician Hugo Race and the Belgian violinist Catherine Graindorge.

Hugo Race, singer, songwriter, producer and author, has a long and wide-ranging history, from the trans-global Dirtmusic and his groups True Spirit and Fatalists to his origins in the 80's Melbourne post-punk scene with Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds and The Wreckery.

Catherine Graindorge, violinist and actress, is known for her work with the Belgian groups Monsoon and Nox, and more recently with Détroit (Bertrand Cantat- Pascal Humbert), John Parish or the German singer Andrea Schroeder. She also plays and composes for theater and cinema.

The music of LDO is an intensely atmospheric dreamweave of violins, electronics and Hugo's darkly evocative voice. The duo explores metaphysical lyrics, experimental sounds and retro-baroque orchestrations in a romantic, song-based context.

'Catherine Graindorge / Hugo Race' came out January 31st on Sub Rosa.

Jaki Liebezeit unexpectedly passed

It is with great sadness that we learned of Jaki Liebezeit’s far too early death.

We consider ourselves honoured and fortunate for the opportunity to act as publishers for his Secret Rhythms project with Burnt Friedman.

Wherever he now dwells, we have no doubt it will be with perfect time.

upcoming debut album by a glow

'Of The Undergrowth' is scheduled for 2017.

a glow are singer/songwriter Jette von Roth and DJ/producer Mijk van Dijk from Berlin. Together they produce crackling campfire electronica. 'Perfect' is the first single release from their upcoming debut album 'Of The Undergrowth'.

After two instrumental solo albums on her own label roter punkt, Jette von Roth finally returns with vocal compostions, conceived and produced with Mijk van Dijk.

'Perfect' is a fine example of their style: warm and fragile, dreamy and brittle, experimental and familiar. To serve the dancefloor, Jette and Mijk conceived a super-slow club mix that shines a different light on the original.

The package is completed by epic Remix by Berlin 1990ies trance legend Cosmic Baby. Harald Blüchel's meditative sound scape and Mijk van Dijk’s own club version have already been road-tested and approved by cheering crowds all over the world.

'Monsters' will be the the second single from 'Of The Undergrowth', scheduled for 2017.

new signing: Jessica Baran-Surel

Jessica Baran-Surel breathes new life into a long-forgotten music of the Middle Ages, the Celts and the early Dutch and Italians (Ars Nova, Trecento).

Jesscica breathes new life into a long-forgotten music. Her playing summons up the vastness of the mystical world: the forests, the meadows, the cities and the sea. It is impossible to resist fascination with this graceful, elfish vision that fervently takes hold of the room.

Music has been a part of Jessica's life since she was in the cradle. Her first music lessons were with her mother and were followed by a typical music education: Instrumental studies at the Hochschule für Musik in Weimar and at the Hochschule für Künste in Bremen, a scholarship tu study with Gabriel Garido and Francis Biggi at the Conservatory in Genf, and numerous concerts with various artists and ensembles (Carlos Núnez, Lucidarium among others).

In addition to her traditional music education, she is also largely influenced by popular and folk music. As a result of her Breton roots, deeply seated in the celtic tradition, her active work as a flautist, singer and keyboard player in various bands and projects, and her long-standing work with music producer Thomas "toma" Barth, she has increasingly blurred the boundaries between different styles and genres and between classical and popular music. She has developed an effortlessness in her handling of musical language, which she shapes into something unique.
