new signing: Wolfgang Tillmans

Freibank just signed fine art photographer and composer Wolfgang Tillmans!

Tillmans, born 1968, is best known as a fine art photographer. In 2000 he became the first photographer to win the Turner Prize, and his work hangs in the Metropolitan Museum Of Art, the Tate, MoMA and the Centre Pompidou, among others. His subject matter, themes and associations have long interwoven with club culture - he's had three sets of work installed in Panorama Bar and also provided the artwork for last year's Ostgut Ton Zehn compilation.

He's also a dedicated music fan. Not only have musicians long been his subjects for works shown in exhibitions, he also still regularly shoots artist portraits for music publications such as German Rolling Stone and Spex. His Berlin gallery Between Bridges also has exhibitions around records, featuring playback on a high-end soundsystem. If you live in Berlin, you'll see him regularly at clubs and can occasionally catch him DJing.

'Device Control' is Tillmans' second release as a musician. His first album '2016 / 1986' came out on Fragile less than three months ago. The EP's title track appeared on Frank Ocean's 'Endless' visual album - Ocean started 'Endless' with a sample from 'Device Control' and ended it by including the entire track.

Wolfgang Tillmans' era-defining career will be the subject of a major retrospective at London's Tate Modern in February 2017.

Premiere: 'Orutu Run' by Lena Willikens

Listen to Lena Willikens' fiery reinterpretation of TAL's first release from Ogoya Nengo and The Dodo Women’s Group!

Lena Willikens has undeniably been one of 2016's most prolific artists. Known for her atypical musical taste and her impressive capacity of picking lesser-known yet brilliant records, the Cologne-based artist doesn't disappoint when it comes to the remix. Following her striking remix for Delicacies and for Huntley’s + Palmers earlier this year, Lena will inaugurate 2017 with a fiery reinterpretation of TAL’s first release from Ogoya Nengo and The Dodo Women's Group.

Ogoya Nengo and The Dodo Women’s Group 'On Mande Versions' is released via TAL on 20th January 2017 and premiered on Inverted Audio.

new signing: The Trouble Notes

Freibank just signed indie world fusion trio from Berlin!

The Berlin-based trio The Trouble Notes is Bennet Cerven violin, Florian Eisenschmidt guitar, and Oliver Maguire percussion. Their music doesn’t need words to convey stories or foster connections. The Trouble Notes resonate across genres and cultures with visionary and accessible compositions. The trio’s aesthetic conjures the intrepid contemporary sounds of EDM, hip-hop, indie rock and stoner rock along with the disciplined traditions of classical, gypsy, and jazz.

Mobile Provider Ortel just licensed 'Catalonia Calling' than can actually be heard in a TVC for the Allnet Flat L campaign.

The EP 'Grand Masquerade' will be released February 24th on their own label The Trouble Notes. The single 'Grand Masquerade' is out since December 9th 2016.

release: 'Perspective' by Jules Valeron

Berlin-based synthwave producer Jules Valeron just released a music for movies-album!

'Perspective' is a compilation of 22 short, mostly instrumental, tracks, between darker cosmic spheres and light, uplifting moments, aiming to be the soundtrack for moving images.

Another album with vocals and pop-structures including some features and unreleased hits is almost finished and will be released in February - stay tuned for more to come!

'Perspective' was released December 13th via Bandcamp.

Out Now: 'Lunation'

Luna City Express released their 2nd studio album.

Italian-based label Lapsus Music has released one of its most important releases so far: 'Lunation', the brand new second studio album from German pair Luna City Express, is out since November 18th.

It features 17 tracks of high grade house, disco, downtempo and tech as well as plenty of guest appearances. It plays out like a party in the cosmos and is hugely absorbing from start to finish.

new release: 'Unity'

Meditation Soundtrack by Danielle de Picciotto & Alexander Hacke

During their long years of nomadic traveling Danielle de Picciotto and Alexander Hacke have resorted to meditation and yoga practice to remain centered in spite of a restless lifestyle. After being asked by many fans worldwide if they would compose a soundtrack suitable for spiritual and body work, they have now finished an album with this intent.

'Unity' is the Hacke -de Picciotto mixture of drones, throat singing, spoken word, violin harmonies, electric bass guitar and soundscapes with an extra dose of "bow chime" and Indian harmonium.

The album contains three extended pieces of music each 20 minutes long specifically composed to accompany yogic exercise and to induce a meditative state. Though it can also be listened to just for relaxation and general enjoyment, we advise strongly against playing 'Unity' while operating automobiles or other heavy machinery.

'Unity' has been released November 15th via and Bandcamp.

Furthermore, Alexander Hacke has finished a fantastic remix: Hum Of The Universe for the legendary band Membranes.

new signing: Pari San

Berlin-based duo Pari San just signed an exclusive author's agreement with Freibank!

Pari San symbolize a collision of two worlds. On the one hand there’s microsystems technologist Paul Brenning from Berlin, who grew up listening to classical music and keeps a level head in producing Pari San’s electronic synthesizer realms. On the other hand there’s Iranian-born Parissa Eskandari, who grew up in Düsseldorf and has a more intuitive-emotional approach to music and a voice that oscillates between Oriental and Scandinavian influences.

Pari San started to produce their very own brand of pop music with an intense attitude towards the general boundaries of that genre, walking on a thin line between pop songwriting, electronic music production and extrasensory sounds. Avant-garde and different, sensual and magical, pop and high art all at the same time - somewhere between Fever Ray, FKA Twigs and Björk.

These days, Pari San live and work in Berlin and are currently looking back at a first series of concerts very special nights, e.g. at the infamous Fusion Festival or supporting Austra at Berghain and Róisín Murphy at the Tollwood Festival.

'Frozen Time' is Pari San's first EP, released on their own label Jirafa October 21st.

The songs move between hypnagogic avant-garde pop music, artistically arranged vintage R&B and emotionally sweltering pop electronica, a combination that’s accessible to a wide range of listeners.

The video to support the title track was directed by none less than Zoran Bihać, who has shot a number of videos for Rammstein and presents the duo in a Lynch-esque fever dream which explores the balance of power between men and women, and prevailing gender roles.

Their debut album 'Allah Saves The Money' is scheduled for release in spring 2017.
