Amon Tobins music featured in Pina Bausch film by Wim Wenders
Some time ago, Amon Tobin was approached to contribute several pieces of music for an innovative dance theatre performance titled "Vollmond (Full Moon)" by the late celebrated German avant-garde dancer and choreographer Pina Bausch. The work was staged at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in Fall 2010 and left audiences absolutely floored. Renowned German film director Wim Wenders, known for such modern classics as Paris, Texas, Wings of Desire, and Buena Vista Social Club, created a truly breathtaking film paying tribute Pina Bauschs fearless artistic spirit titled PINA. The film features works by the late choreographer interwoven in a visually arresting manner in 3D. An avid supporter of Amons music, Wenders used several of Amons tracks as part of the heart-stopping soundtrack for the film. PINA has its world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) in February 2011.
Ninja Tune: Amon Tobin - Isam
Amon Tobin will release his next album on May 20th, entitled "ISAM".
"ISAM" is part of a collaboration between Amon Tobin and Saatchi Gallery artist Tessa Farmer, and will work as a companion to an art installation called ISAM: Control Over Nature. The record will be available in a few different formats, one of which comes with a hard cover book featuring photographs of the project and interviews with Tobin and Farmer. The Crypt Gallery in London will be showing the installation from May 26th through June 6th. Like all of Tobins albums to date, "ISAM" will come out on UK breaks establishment Ninja Tune. It will be his first official release since 2007s Foley Room. Tobin will be stepping away from previous DJ centric performances, and instead will be providing a large scale live audio/visual experience to select cities around the world. Designed in conjunction with Blasthaus, VSquared Labs, Vita Motus Design and Leviathan amongst others.
