OUT: Album 'Hasan Poppu' by Hasan Poppu

Hasan Poppu is a project by Jens-Uwe Beyer and Thomas Venker. It's a word creation that means broken pop music and is based on our deep soft spot for all things Japanese. Originally based on a special one-off live performance, Jens-Uwe Beyer and Thomas Venker got the idea to make a record out of the Japanese lyrics that Venker wrote and ended up producing six new tracks that also showcases a contribution of remixes from friends: YPY (Japan), Hibotep (Uganda), Lena Willikens (Berlin), Efdemin (Berlin) and Barnt & Jens-Uwe Beyer (Köln). So there we have it, an album consisting of eleven tracks that was conceived, offering a ride from dark, noise techno textures over hilarious moments of party ecstasy to outer-worldly vibes.

OUT: Album 'Nephology Restorated 2023' by Air Liquide

Formed in 1991, Air Liquide is a 'mythical' electronic music duo composed of Ingmar Koch (Dr Walker) and Cem Oral (Jammin' Unit). 'Nephology' is their second studio album, which was first released in 1994. Almost 30 years later, this album has now been remastered and re-released. An album that even now manages to be a glimpse into the future.

OUT: Single 'Alto Adige' by Steve Bug

Despite maintaining a prolific release and remix schedule, it's been quite some time since we've been treated to a pure, unadulterated Steve Bug original on Poker Flat. So we're very pleased to present 'Alto Adige': a fantastically deep and typically meticulous two-tracker set to scratch that particular itch. 'Alto Adige' is a patient slow-burner, kicking off with a muted synth line that gradually opens up as the track progresses, building to a deeply satisfying crescendo in the break. 'Trentino' is similarly minded, with the addition of rising strings and a beautifully epic synth lead adding even more drama to proceedings.

OUT: Album 'Schön' by Felix Römer & Nachtfarben

Felix Römer writes poetry. This has led to him being the German-language poetry slam champion on the one hand, and on the other, to his texts being brought to the public in a wide variety of contexts. 

Now Römer is once again breaking new ground. During the last years and between all the restrictions the cultural scene had to deal with, Felix Römer worked on setting his texts to music. Together with the band Nachtfarben around the musician Martin Bosch, what was already pushing towards the stage was arranged in such a way that a multi-layered, sonorous and gripping program was created. Jazzy spheres as well as catchy pop lines, rhythmic arrangements meet poetry and transform unexpectedly into soundscapes through which Römer's verses lead. Pieces emerge that are tailor-made around Römer's sonorous, warm voice. In the process, the musical slyness of Nachtfarben and Römer's impartiality mesh perfectly.

OUT: Album 'Welcome Back Home' by Kati von Schwerin

Kati von Schwerin shows on her current album, in addition to the autobiographical and pictorial lyrics, again a fine sense for arrangements and soundscapes. Musically, she moves as usual in the genre of pop-rock, but this time with a loving penchant for synth sounds. Of course, one cannot avoid emphasizing the vocal presence of Kati von Schwerin. Because in a time in which artists are still purring quietly, Kati von Schwerin stands loudly against this as a counter-model. In a row with Kelsey Karter, Donna Missal or Elisa Toffoli, Kati von Schwerin is an expressive artist whose enormous vocal volume is nothing short of astonishing.
