Secret Rhytms Vol. 4

The next round of Friedman & Liebezeits Secret Rhythms will be released on CD, 15th April 2011. What began as a rehearsal for a concert delivered at Cologne Triennale 2000 turned into a long-term exploration of the laws governing rhythm. Therefore, this fourth CD is based, like its predecessors, on a variety of rhythms seldom heard elsewhere. In Secret Rhythms 4, the interplay of reduction and maximization is elevated to an aesthetic principle, the sound distributed dynamically over background and foreground. Fusing electronic and acoustic, improvisation and postproduction, Friedman & Liebezeit move further away from Anglo-American models. While the three preceding albums were dominated by guest contributions, the new production is devoted almost exclusively to Liebezeits drum set and the Friedman-typical combination of keyboards and string instruments, all kinds of percussion and the computer. There are two appearances (tracks 1, 3) by Joseph Suchy, whose unmistakable guitar sound has left its mark on all the Secret Rhythm releases.

Mona Mur:Composer of IO Interactives Kane & Lynch 2™: Dog Days

Berlin-based audio artist and underground cult figure Mona Mur provides the music score for IO Interactive’s recently announced Kane & Lynch 2™: Dog Days. The game is her first international AAA title. Kane & Lynch 2™: Dog Days is published by Eidos/Square Enix and was released in August 2010 and entered directly the Pole Position of the british Games-Charts. "Mona Mur composes the Industrial Terror Ambience which generates the opressive but driving atmosphere", says Art Director Rasmus Poulsen in EUROGAMER. "We didn‘t want this normal epic orchestra stuff here." Mona Mur, extravagant vocalist, composer and sound designer, has gained her reputation in the international avantgarde scene collaborating with artists such as "Einstuerzende Neubauten", "The Stranglers", "Yello" and the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra. Her work can be found in games such as BALLANCE, awarded "Seal of Excellence" in Adrenaline Vault, the Sci-Fi-Adventure “CULPA INNATA 2–Chaos Rising” or the apocalyptic 3rd person shooter VELVET ASSASSIN.
