Ninja Tune: Amon Tobin - Isam

Amon Tobin will release his next album on May 20th, entitled "ISAM".
"ISAM" is part of a collaboration between Amon Tobin and Saatchi Gallery artist Tessa Farmer, and will work as a companion to an art installation called ISAM: Control Over Nature. The record will be available in a few different formats, one of which comes with a hard cover book featuring photographs of the project and interviews with Tobin and Farmer. The Crypt Gallery in London will be showing the installation from May 26th through June 6th. Like all of Tobins albums to date, "ISAM" will come out on UK breaks establishment Ninja Tune. It will be his first official release since 2007s Foley Room. Tobin will be stepping away from previous DJ centric performances, and instead will be providing a large scale live audio/visual experience to select cities around the world. Designed in conjunction with Blasthaus, VSquared Labs, Vita Motus Design and Leviathan amongst others.

Formresonance presents: The Chaenge

A stunning surprise is awaiting: label director Florian "The Voice" Schirmacher developed something completely out of the box together with the living Techno legend Mijk van Dijk: The CHAENGE. After the preliminary release of the single "Love Devotion" on David Carrettas Label Space Factory, now follows the debut album "Rebellion". Funk is back? – Its never been gone! They manage a synthesis of camp, irony, elegance, seriousness and a wink of a surprising turn in thier songs. The CHAENGE should be seen as a neatly tailored colorful kaleidoscope. The carefully chosen cover version of André Cymones "Dance Electric" (written by none other than Prince) proves their courage to raise their music to a new and higher level. The essence and spirit of funk is preserved and transformed into the current club culture. Their compositions draw a rich picture full of musicality and passion. They speak with one voice and create a synthesis that forms a character: The CHAENGE is our "Rebellion".

Secret Rhytms Vol. 4

The next round of Friedman & Liebezeits Secret Rhythms will be released on CD, 15th April 2011. What began as a rehearsal for a concert delivered at Cologne Triennale 2000 turned into a long-term exploration of the laws governing rhythm. Therefore, this fourth CD is based, like its predecessors, on a variety of rhythms seldom heard elsewhere. In Secret Rhythms 4, the interplay of reduction and maximization is elevated to an aesthetic principle, the sound distributed dynamically over background and foreground. Fusing electronic and acoustic, improvisation and postproduction, Friedman & Liebezeit move further away from Anglo-American models. While the three preceding albums were dominated by guest contributions, the new production is devoted almost exclusively to Liebezeits drum set and the Friedman-typical combination of keyboards and string instruments, all kinds of percussion and the computer. There are two appearances (tracks 1, 3) by Joseph Suchy, whose unmistakable guitar sound has left its mark on all the Secret Rhythm releases.
