new release: 'Menetekel' by hackdepicciotto
'Menetekel' is the 2nd album by Einstürzende Neubauten's Alexander Hacke and The Space Cowboys' Danielle de Picciotto!
Both are legends of their own: de Picciotto moved from NY to Berlin in 1987, to become the lead singer of Space Cowboys, co-initiator of the Love Parade and a collaborator of the Ocean Club with Gudrun Gut (Malaria). Hacke is an original member and the bass player of Einstürzende Neubauten. The artist couple has creatively interacted with countless international projects for almost two decades now besides regularly releasing their own compositions.
Menetekel is darker than their last masterpiece Perseverantia. The title is another word for 'the writing on the wall' and the artist couple is projecting our collective despair of what is happening worldwide momentarily into a monumental symphony of sound. The symbolic and spiritual questions asked supply an unusual depth to the album, giving it a universal and very poignant touch of the human quest.
'Menetekel' is out via Potomak since December 15th!

Wolfgang Tillmans releases 35-minute exhibition soundwork
'Hamburg Süd / Nee IYaow eow eow' has been released Novemebr 17th alongside booklet of photographs
"You’re probably very familiar with the photographic work of German artist Wolfgang Tillmans. Earlier this year, the Tate Modern held a vast exhibition of the photographer’s work and in the year 2000, he was the first photographer and first non-British artist to receive the Turner Prize. You may not, however, be as familiar with his music or sound design displayed in a recently released record by the artist following his exhibition, There was 30 years between 1943 and 1973, 30 years from 1973 was the year 2003, at The Kunstverein in Hamburg.
The exhibition consisted of a 35-minute sound installation which took the exhibition’s inner-city context as its starting point. Operating in conjunction with several photographic and video works, the installation transformed the gallery space into a “single cinematic whole”.
Now that the exhibition is over, The Kunstverein has released the 35-minute sound work Hamburg Süd / Nee IYaow eow eow as a CD via Tillman's own label Fragile Records, accompanied by a booklet featuring exhibition views and short snippets of text all designed by Wolfgang. rRoxymore delivers new EP for Don't Be Afraid
'Thoughts Of An Introvert Pt. 1' is the artists second release on the Bristol-based label!
"rRoxymore's music sounds like it's from another dimension. She transmits alien frequencies and melodies to make your shoulders wiggle over tough and sassy drums that are in line with her UK-based techno peers. Her knack for strange and dizzying melodies shone through on 'Organ Smith', her first EP for Don't Be Afraid.
'Thoughts Of An Introvert Pt. 1', her follow-up on the Bristol-based label, is a continuation of the swirly-eyed sonics that made Organ Smith so infectious. […]" (words: Aurora Mitchell on Resident Advisor)
'Thoughts Of An Introvert Pt. 2' will be out spring 2018 via DBA!

YEK EP to be released November 3rd via Nonplace
Mohammad Reza Mortazavi und Burnt Friedman have channeled their sublime creative synergy into a new EP.
What Mortazavi and Friedman have in common is their shared expertise in uneven, cyclical rhythms - the foundation of their trance-like art music, which is both subtle and ecstatic.
Through repetition and improvisation in the studio they create 'numbers' - groove-based pieces played on a variety of drums (Mortazavi mainly plays the Tombak) mixed with electronics. Natural, i.e. given, motion patterns provide the musical backbone. This results in a precisely timed harmony between the electronic sounds and live grooves.
Thanks to the extreme acoustic range of the Tombak and his extravagant technique, Mortazavi merges perfectly with Burnt Friedman’s signature sound and repertoire, which seems to belong to no specific place or time.
Mohammad Reza Mortazavi and Burnt Friedman both live and work in Berlin and are preparing for a live tour in 2018.
