Since their inception on April 1, 1980, Einstürzende Neubauten have been shifting the parameters of mainstream and subculture to make the inaudible audible. And perhaps even the unheard-of. A field research experiment spanning over four decades now enters its next stage. In their 44th year of existence, the group goes far back to their roots while simultaneously redefining themselves. A changed self-conception, for which the Berlin quintet plus one has created its own genre in 2024: apm – alien pop music.
